Walla Walla University Engineering Majors Chosen as Competition Finalists
During their senior year, Luke Graham and Avianna Alvarez, Walla Walla University engineering alumni, were two of 16 student finalists chosen for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Pressure Vessel Piping Conference student paper competition. PVP Conference offers a platform for students and engineers to keep up with new technologies and network with experts. It is a recognized international forum with participants from more than 40 countries. At the 2024 conference in July, Graham and Alvarez presented their work to a group of 40 engineers from around the world.

Jack J. Blanco, former dean of the Southern Adventist University School of Religion and professor emeritus, and author of The Clear Word Bible paraphrase, passed peacefully to his rest on Sabbath, January 11, 2025. He was 95.
Adventist Partnerships Prioritize Relief for Southern California Residents
Adventist Health Glendale and Adventist Health Global Mission are partnering with the Southern California Conference and the Pasadena Seventh-day Adventist Church to begin offering help (and hope) for residents of Altadena and Pasadena affected by the ongoing fires. On Wednesday evening, January 8, 2025, the North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church hosted a special prayer meeting to launch the world church’s 10 Days of Prayer with emphasis on "Seeking God's Spirit" for Pentecost 2025. “We’re delighted to have you here with us tonight. We’re excited about what God is going to do and about His promises, and tonight, we’re going to claim those promises.” NAD president G. Alexander Bryant said in his greetings.
ACS Disaster Response Advisory Inspires Collaboration Among Unions and Addresses Need for Certified Leaders
The Adventist Community Services (ACS) Disaster Response (DR) Advisory drew 50 coordinators and directors to Rhode Island on May 6-7 to deliver reports on projects taking place around the division and beyond. The event took place at the Providence Spanish Seventh-day Adventist Church just before the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) conference.

Last fall, during the North American Division 2017 Year-End Meeting, a group of church leaders gathered in a conference room for a lunchtime meet and greet. A conference president, three college presidents, several ministry leaders, and a few church officers — all women — gathered to reflect, share, pray, and praise God. About four years ago Jiří Moskala, Ph.D., dean of the Andrews University Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, talked with Dale Galusha, president of Pacific Press Publishing Association about last generation theology and concluded that there had never been a definitive work on this topic. Moskala began assembling a group of scholars in various areas of theological disciplines. Recently, Moskala, co-editor of God’s Character and the Last Generation, talked about this important new book in an interview with Galusha.
