At the same time, we have been entrusted with the Adventist health message embodied in and expanded upon by the writings of Ellen White, summarizing healthful living through practical and wholistic healthy lifestyle behaviors. We advocate all of these practices to maintain a healthy immune system, and in the pandemic, even more is needed.

Washington Adventist University’s community continues to be a community of prayer and faith. During this challenging time in history, distance is ideal in preventing infection; not so ideal in fellowship and communal worship. Despite the challenges, the Holy Spirit has been working to soften hearts and lead individuals to commit to a life in Christ. On two consecutive weekends, a student and an employee of WAU have made this commitment publicly through baptism at Sligo Seventh-day Adventist Church on the campus of WAU in Takoma Park, Maryland.

The Oakwood University Church in Huntsville, Alabama, which has a history of reaching out to its community in a variety of ways, has engaged in community service in extra special ways since the COVID-19 pandemic started earlier this year. 

I want to extend to you, on behalf of my fellow officers and the entire NAD office family, our warmest holiday greetings as this year 2020 comes to an end. And what a year it has been! Who could have guessed when we started 2020 we would end it in this manner?

As the COVID-19 pandemic affected life for everyone, Southwestern Adventist University focused on meeting student needs through the Fighting Food and Housing Insecurity fundraising campaign. Launched with a goal to raise $50,000, SWAU has recently concluded the campaign, exceeding the goal.

The Walla Walla University Center for Humanitarian Engagement (CHE) is pleased to announce that it will participate in a community health initiative, the Blue Zones Project Walla Walla Valley, which was announced earlier this month by Adventist Health, and includes several other participants in the local community.

Union College has launched the new Bridge to Union Scholarship — a plan that will cover the tuition costs for students from most families with an income of less than $60,000. “In these challenging economic times, every dollar matters,” said Vinita Sauder, president of Union College. “We want to bridge the tuition gap for any student and family who dreams of taking advantage of the life coach for every freshman, career preparation and spiritual community at Union College so they have that opportunity.”
