Dinosaur Research Draws World-Wide Acclaim, Inspires New TV Series

For one month every year, Southwestern Adventist University’s ongoing Dinosaur Excavation and Taphonomic Research Project, led by professors Art Chadwick and Jared Wood, moves from the university’s biology department to the 8,000-acre Hanson Ranch and Research Center in eastern Wyoming. Hope Channel is preparing to release a six-episode documentary on the project this fall, giving viewers a small glimpse of what hundreds of students, researchers, and hobbyists experience every June.

About 6,000 Pathfinders and club staff and leaders assisted in 57 local service efforts in Oshkosh and the surrounding communities during the 2019 Chosen International Pathfinder Camporee. Each day except Sabbath, buses rolled out morning and afternoon for several hours as teams helped at food pantries, shelters, the humane society, thrift stores, and a plethora of other nonprofit organizations. Community outreach also included an onsite blood drive and park cleanup.

At Chosen Camporee, Inaugural “NextGen” Event Affirms Pathfinders Answering the Call to Ministry

On the final day of the 2019 Chosen International Pathfinder Camporee in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Pathfinders with a desire to become a pastor had the opportunity to mingle with Church leaders of the North American Division to learn more about pursuing a career in ministry. The ice cream social served as the launch of “NextGen,” an initiative of the NAD Ministerial Association, which is seeking to address the startling projected number of pastors who will be able to minister throughout the division within the next decade as current pastors retire.

Pathfinder Cooks Compete in Top Club Chef at the 2019 Chosen International Pathfinder Camporee

Pathfinder Club chefs had the opportunity to flex their culinary muscles at the 2019 Chosen International Pathfinder Camporee Top Club Chef activity during three rounds held each morning, Aug. 14-16, near Hangar D of the Experimental Aviation Association grounds. During the daily critique period, tables showcased beautifully plated club cuisine. Chefs were teamed up and awarded team and personal points. Mediallions were presented at the conclusion of the three-session event.

Anna Coridan, the missionary to Nepal and Kansas City, and leader of the NC4Y Pathfinder Club from the Iowa-Missouri Conference can’t get a photo alone — and she doesn’t want to. The youth crush around her, and her committed team members stand with her. They recognize someone answering God’s call and following Him as the doors open, the waters part, and the ball drives over the goal line. They’ve seen God work out the impossible, and they want to be on His team.
