Adventist Retirement Welcomes New Assistant Treasurer, New Associate Administrator/CFO
Adventist Retirement is pleased to welcome two new employees, Jennifer Chung, as assistant treasurer, and Andrew Choi, as associate administrator/CFO. Chung joins the department to fill the role of outgoing assistant treasurer Lisa Shannon, who has accepted a position with the Adventist Healthcare Retirement Plan. on May 1, Andrew Choi will join Adventist Retirement as associate administrator/chief financial officer (CFO). He fills the vacancy created when Romero became administrator in May 2020.

Adventist Biography Series — An Unprecedented Publishing Project Changes Editors
Denis Kaiser has been named the new editor of the ongoing Adventist Biography Series, one of the most ambitious publishing projects in Seventh-day Adventist history. Kaiser is a specialist in Adventist history and a professor at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He will be assuming leadership of the series with the retirement of George Knight, who has served as series editor for the past 20 years.

North American Division to Hold Prayer Convention
On April 9-10, 2021, the North American Division will launch its 2021 Prayer Convention, “And When They Had Prayed,” a theme based on Acts 4:31. While the event calls for “24/7-style” prayer, two special features of the program will livestream on the NAD Facebook page.

Adventist Risk Management, Inc. Names Interim President
Adventist Risk Management, Inc. (ARM) announced on April 1, 2021, the appointment of Karnik Doukmetzian as interim president for both ARM and Gencon Insurance Company of Vermont (GICV). The appointment by the ARM board of directors came after president and CEO Tim Northrop submitted his resignation.

It Is Written Celebrates 65 Years of Soul-winning Ministry
On March 25, Pastor John Bradshaw held a Facebook Live broadcast to mark the 65th anniversary of It Is Written. The first It Is Written television program entered people’s homes via television on Sunday, March 25, 1956. Bradshaw is the current speaker/director for It Is Written.

Southwestern Adventist University President Ken Shaw Announces Transition
Southwestern Adventist University president Ken Shaw has announced that he has accepted an offer to serve as the 27th president of Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee. His transition will take place at the end of this academic year.

Ken Shaw to Become 27th President of Southern Adventist University
The Southern Adventist University Board of Trustees voted unanimously on February 28 for Ken Shaw, EdD, to become the 27th president of the university. He will assume office on June 1. For the past seven years, Shaw has served as president of Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas.

A Sonscreen Gathering
On the heels of the success of the first-ever virtual Sonscreen Film festival in 2020, organizers are preparing for the 2021 event to again be held virtually. But it won’t look much like the 2020 event, said Julio Muñoz, director of Sonscreen, and an associate director of communication for the North American Division (NAD). He shared that Sonscreen, partnering with Tanya Musgrave, has come up with a way to make this year’s event a more interactive experience through online platform Gather.
