At Convention, Adventist Community Services Celebrates 50 Years of Humanitarian Service

More than 200 people, including one from Indonesia, attended the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists (NAD) Adventist Community Services (ACS) Convention held at the Hilton Garden Inn DFW North-Grapevine hotel in Grapevine, Texas, on April 5-9, 2022.

Pathfinders Gather in Oregon for North American Division PBE Finals

Pathfinder teams from across North America and the world gathered in person and remotely on April 22-23, 2022, for the Pathfinder Bible Experience division finals. Sixty-three teams gathered in person at the Lane Events Center in Eugene, Oregon, and 30 teams joined remotely. This was the first in-person division Pathfinder event since the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 event.

Sonscreen Film Festival Celebrates 20 Years with In-person Event, Premiere of “Encounters”

From April 7-9, student filmmakers gathered at Loma Linda University Church for the 20th annual Sonscreen Film Festival, which included the world premiere of Hope Media Europe’s Encounters series. Festival organizers screened 28 student films from seven colleges/universities and academies, as well as several professionally-made shorts. More than 150 attended the festival this year, with more than 300 attending the Friday evening premiere of Encounters.

This year, National Volunteer Week is April 17-23. While this week serves to both spotlight the impact volunteers make on their communities and encourage people to help light up their corner of the word by volunteering, for AdventHealth team members, volunteering is year-round — as evidenced by the volume and variety of projects occurring throughout the organization, including at corporate headquarters in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Two key positions, director and associate director, on the NAD Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries team have been filled with familiar names. On April 7, the NAD committee voted the name of assistant director Washington Johnson II to serve as director; and assistant director Gilda Roddy was promoted to associate director.
