Southwestern Adventist University Celebrates Grand Opening of New Building
Southwestern Adventist University celebrated the grand opening of the Larry R. Moore Nursing and Administration Building on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2018. The ceremony took place on the front steps of the new building, with nursing students, alumni, friends, Board of Trustees and administration in attendance, along with Texas State Representative DeWayne Burns and Keene City Mayor James Chapline. More than 500 visitors attended the event.

NAD Summit on Abuse Underscores Shared Accountability When Facing Cases in Adventist Churches, Schools, and Institutions
The NAD enditnow Summit on Abuse took place Sept. 24-25 at the division’s headquarters in Columbia, Md. The summit was organized to help equip pastors, teachers, volunteers, church staff, and members with the tools and knowledge to help end abuse within their scope of influence.

Student Leaders, Hopeful of Church’s Future, Promote Intentional Communication
As this fall’s meeting approaches, here is a look back at a 2017 Year-End Meeting (YEM) discussion with student body presidents of Adventist colleges and universities (Adventist Intercollegiate Association). The students, some of whom have recently graduated, were invited to participate in the North American Divison’s annual meeting with voice and vote privileges for its business sessions. The conversation started with the students sharing their expectations of YEM, and hopes for the future.

Tremendous! Impressive! Amazing! This is how volunteers, patients, and community members alike described the most recent Your Best Pathway to Health event, a three-day mega clinic held in Fort Worth, Texas, on Sept. 19-21, 2018. The eighth in a series of “Pathway to Health” community health clinics held in cities around the U.S. over the past five years, the Fort Worth event stands out as one of the most unique. And the 2,200 volunteers in Fort Worth made a difference in the lives of others as more than 6,800 patients received more than $25,000,000 in services provided.

Loma Linda University Health Summer Gateway Program Inspires Minority High School Students
Local underrepresented minority high school students were inspired to achieve more and serve others after participating in an immersive two-week learning experience through Loma Linda University Health’s Summer Gateway program. A variety of LLUH professionals and students volunteered their time to provide lectures and to assist with hands-on activities. This summer, nearly 70 students participated in the program; 21 were selected to shadow practicing medical professionals for an additional week.

Adventist Community Services DR Provides Help to Hurricane Florence Victims
Adventist Community Services (ACS) is working with the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) and other disaster relief groups to help victims of Hurricane Florence. ACS Disaster Response in both South Atlantic and Carolina conferences were mobilized before Hurricane Florence hit the North Carolina coast on Friday, September 14.

When Calls Become Baptisms
The role of media ministries in the North American Division (NAD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is to create a flood of interest through their programming, station placement, and their weekly offers. The main role of Adventist Information Ministry (AIM), headquartered on the campus of Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, is to collect those interests and “upgrade” as many as they can to pass on to the local church, often for personal connection and Bible study. AIM sometimes learns what happens with those it connects to local churches. Here are a few of those stories, shared during ministry meetings in August.
