The Association of Adventist Women has named Elizabeth Talbot, Ph.D., the 2024 Woman of the Year for spiritual leadership and media ministry. Talbot was presented this honorary award at the Association of Adventist Women banquet on October 12, 2024. Talbot was recognized for her commitment to sharing Jesus through her preaching, writing, and visual ministry.

Report on 2024 Consolidated Enrollment

The Association of Adventist Colleges and Universities (AACU), comprised of the presidents and other top leaders from 13 Adventist colleges and universities in North America, has determined that the latest consolidated fall enrollment numbers for all 13 institutions totals 20,828 students. This increase of 256 students from the previous year marks the second consecutive year of total growth.

Warehouse Management and Mobile Distribution

When Hurricane Laura made landfall along the Texas-Louisiana border on August 27, 2020, Adventist Community Services Disaster Response (ACS DR) was ready to respond. Before the storm, the organization reached out the other partners such as FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), the American Red Cross, and Salvation Army, to plan how best to help those affected by the storm. “Louisiana has confirmed that they want us to operate and manage a warehouse,” said W. Derrick Lea, North American Division (NAD) ACS DR director.

Adventist Community Services Preps for Hurricane Laura Aftermath

What has been forecast and talked about for the last week materialized early this morning around 1 a.m. in Louisiana as Hurricane Laura touched down with 150 m.p.h. winds, the strongest to make landfall in the state since 1856. Although the storm has now weakened from a category 4 to a category 2 hurricane, Governor John Edwards activated the state’s National Guard as widespread devastation is expected across the state. With this as the backdrop, Adventist Community Services (ACS) for the Southwest Union Conference has been in preparation mode.
