Ana Patterson Named 26th President of Southwestern Adventist University

The Southwestern Adventist University Board of Trustees voted unanimously on July 7, 2021, for Ana Patterson to become the 26th president of the university. Patterson has served as the interim president following former president Ken Shaw’s transition to Southern Adventist University.

The North American Division and the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church designate a special day each year during the month of June for Refugee Sabbath ("World Refugee Sabbath") to raise awareness of the needs of the unprecedented numbers of refugees who have fled their homes due to war and persecution. This year, on June 19, two significant events occurred on Refugee Sabbath, serving to empower refugees and their leaders in ministry.

Norm Middag, former North American Division Pathfinder, Adventurer, and Camp Ministries director, died suddenly on June 23, 2021, in Florida, where he and his wife, Barbara, retired in 2001. Middag was 91.

The North American Division Welcomes New Vice President, New Professional Services Director, and Adventist Community Services Associate Director

Several new employees will soon be joining the North American Division as those called to serve the church in certain positions move to new roles or retire. In June 2021, three positions were voted: vice president for Multilingual Ministries, Professional Services director, and Adventist Community Services associate director.
