On April 17, 2023, M. Gilda Dholah-Roddy, associate director of the North American Division Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries (NAD ACM), was commissioned as a U.S. Army Reserve chaplain in a ceremony held at the NAD headquarters in Columbia, Maryland. In the U.S. Army Reserve, Chaplain (Captain) Dholah-Roddy will offer spiritual and pastoral support to the 55th sustainment brigade based in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

On Sunday, July 2, 2023, Breath of Life Ministries will launch a new YouTube series called "Fresh Start Sundays." Each Sunday, at 10 a.m. CST, viewers will receive a spiritual boost for the new week.

As a pastor, I have noticed over the years that one of the main reasons people stop going to church is the lack of friends and meaningful relationships in the church. Loneliness and church should be an oxymoron. Some say that we go to church to meet God, and it should not be used as a social club. I disagree. Acts 2:42 says: “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” (KJV).

In my role as CFO, I am called upon to communicate complicated and lengthy financial statement analysis to those who do not regularly interact with that information. It has been a career goal of mine to make that information simple and accurate so most anyone can quickly understand. That desire to make the complicated simple has spilled over into my everyday life.

AdventHealth for Children has been recognized as a 2023-2024 Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings assist parents of children with rare or life-threatening illnesses and their doctors in choosing the right hospital.

Members of the Atlantic Union College (AUC) Corporation Board recently met with representatives from Andrews University to witness the signing of an Agreement of Intent between the two entities. Pierre E. Omeler, AUC Corporation Board president, and Andrea Luxton, Andrews University president, signed the agreement on May 18, 2023, to “establish a general understanding of intent to promote academic and spiritual collaboration between the institutions.”

In 1973, AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, formerly known as Florida Hospital Altamonte, opened for Seminole County residents with three doctors, 104 beds, and mostly volunteers pitching in to help. Today, the hospital has 393 beds, 385 doctors, and 2,085 team members. Seminole County had a population of 122,000 in 1973, but it is now more than 485,000 and it continues to grow.

Within the Seventh-day Adventist content library, there are countless articles, sermons, videos, books, podcasts, and seminars speaking to what the young adults in our church need. Some of the observations are helpful, some miss the mark. But the majority of the discussions lack one crucial element: the voices of actual young people. This is an issue that the North American Division is seeking to correct. 

The stories we tell matter. Perhaps my favorite stories in our Adventist past pertain to how Adventism spread to new places; and in telling our Adventist stories, we should not overlook how Adventism spread across what is today the North American Division.
