The Adventist Church communication community, Global Adventist Internet Network (GAiN) Europe, in coordination with Hope Media Europe, has unveiled its latest film and media productions, and written content, under the theme My Greatest Purpose. This new global network project focuses on the theme of life purposes, bringing together the collaboration, efforts, and teamwork of numerous media centers and entities of the Adventist Church worldwide.

During the 2024 GAiN Europe conference, held on November 15-19 in Budva, Montenegro, Hope Media Europe presented the results of more than two years of work: three documentary series, a narrative film, an upcoming book on “Purpose,” and new free-to-view streaming website J+.

The content revealed at GAiN Europe has been produced by partners across the world as part of a global network project, under the leadership of Klaus Popa, president of Hope Media Europe; with the strong involvement and official support of the communication departments of the Inter-European Division and Trans-European Division, and overall project coordinator Adrian Duré; along with representatives from global media centers (documentary series); the North American Division (NAD), coordinated by Julio Muñoz, executive director of the Sonscreen Film Festival, with significant contributions from Pacific Union College (the narrative film “Inner Space”); and Norel Iacob, professor of systematic theology at Adventus University and director of Adventus University Press in Romania (book on “Purpose”).

The My Greatest Purpose project has now produced the three documentary series, and the narrative film titled “Inner Space.” A noteworthy aspect of the documentary series is the decision to focus on the life stories of world-renowned public figures excelling in their respective fields.

And, for the first time, Hope Media Europe introduced www.jplus.app  a new platform dedicated to films, documentaries, and reflective articles focused on culture, values, and faith. Fully launching in April 2025, the free-to-use platform will cater to audiences interested in the intersection of these three areas. Featuring an extensive library of intercultural productions from the Adventist Church, www.JPLUS.app  aims to be a hub for cultural, value-based, and faith-driven content.

Docuseries of Sharable Content

"From the moment we met with the coordination group of the network projects, we decided to respond to feedback from previous years regarding why we weren’t working with highly influential public figures. We realized this would be a way to reach new audiences with a positive and hopeful message," explained Adrian Duré, the project’s overall coordinator.

"After much prayer, persistent interviews, rejections, and negotiations, we managed to engage famous and respected individuals who were enthusiastic about working with Adventist representatives to share exemplary stories and inspire other audiences,” Duré said.

Under the direction and production of Duré, Lizbeth Elejalde Garcia, renowned producer from the Inter-American Division, and Marcelo Ziegler, experienced documentary director and leader of Hope Media Central Asia, these three documentary series were brought to life, telling the stories of true life purposes through the experiences of public figures.

The first seasons of the three docuseries, “My Greatest Victory,” “My Greatest Venture,” and “My Greatest Decision,” available on the new J+ streaming site. More free-to-view content will be added in 2025.

An In-depth Look

The narrative “Inner Space” explores the notions of purpose, identity, and life goals through an introspective conversation visually displayed throughout the film. Sonscreen Films, with Pacific Union College, produced this short film in 2024. Written and directed by Josue Hilario, this film is currently making the rounds in film festivals. “Through a simple yet profound conversation over a game of dominoes, Josue reminds us that storytelling is a mirror—allowing audiences to see themselves in the characters, reflect on their own experiences, and empathize in a deeply personal way,” said Muñoz, who is also an associate director of communication for the NAD. “At Sonscreen, we are proud to support young filmmakers like Josue, who use narrative to bridge the gap between personal truth and collective understanding. Sonscreen is also honored to be part of this global, ground-breaking project.”

The series “My Greatest Victory” featuring five stories in Season 1, highlights the life purposes of elite athletes. Among them is Aguska Mnich, a freestyle football (soccer) legend and six-time world champion with three Guinness World Records. Alongside her husband Patrick Bäurer, also a freestyle footballer, they boast more than 10 million followers. Mnich shares how her life transformation came solely through God, stating, "Jesus changed my life. If He could change mine, He can do it for anyone. I need to tell the world what Jesus has done for me."

Nicola Olyslagers, one of the standout athletes from the 2024 Paris Olympics, also shares her testimony. "I don’t want to be remembered for my achievements but for how I loved others. High jump is not my final goal but the tool shaping me into who I’ve always wanted to be," Nicola explaines.

Other inspiring stories in this series include Moesha Johnson, an Australian athlete who won a silver medal in open-water swimming at the controversial Seine River Olympic event, alongside stories from Africa, Argentina, and beyond.

“My Greatest Venture,” explores the journeys of four renowned entrepreneurs and innovators. Among them is David Aguilar, known as “Hand Solo,” who gained global recognition for building his own prosthetic arm using LEGO pieces. Today, David builds prosthetics for thousands of children worldwide using the same materials.

The series also features Rosana Alves, a Brazilian neuroscientist whose humble beginnings did not stop her from becoming a global authority in neuroscience and a bestselling author.

Finally, the “My Greatest Decision” series presents the stories of six music artists from the world of popular music who experienced life-changing transformations, leading them to reevaluate their careers and life purposes.

Kevin Olusola, a member of the Grammy Award-winning group Pentatonix, shares his journey of faith, detailing his past, present, and hopes for the future. The series also features Irida Dragoti, a prominent opera singer from Albania, who recounts her transformation and how her faith guides her in the elite world of European classical music.

A Free Resource for All

"From the beginning, we saw an incredible opportunity to tell untold stories and reach new audiences,” said Duré. “The protagonists deeply valued the church’s initiative to create such meaningful content."

Thus, My Greatest Purpose material is meant to be viewed and shared. And it isn’t just the most recently released content. Many media projects from previous themes throughout the past nine years are also available, including short film, “Those Were the Good Days,” docuseries “700 Years of Happiness,” the film and series on “Fathers,” and the documentary “Masters of Joy.”

These productions will also be accessible to Adventist media centers worldwide, with the potential for translation into other languages. In addition, promotional materials for the network project content are available for churches and schools, providing material that may be utilized for potential evangelistic campaigns, local church events, and more.

As the collaborative efforts of the network project continue in 2025, Duré shared his appreciation for the team representing many Adventist Church world divisions. Duré noted in particular that the NAD has been involved with the network project since its inception in 2015-2016, with providing stories for the documentary film “REST – The Experience.” As the collaboration has matured, the NAD continues to provide content, most recently in the areas of narrative films and stories for the documentary films.

“I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to each [person] for their vision, immense support, and everything they’ve done for the ‘Purpose’ project,” he said of all partners. “Whether it’s been through financial contributions; authorizing teams to work on areas such as shooting and production of stories; marketing, distribution, social media; or writing articles, news pieces, or producing impactful stories,  Simply put, ‘thank you.’ As I often say, we cast our bread upon the waters, and the rest will be done by God.”
