Letter From Your NAD Officers

Dear Fellow Leaders:

Welcome to the 2022 North American Division Year-End Meeting! What a joy to see all of you in person after two years of having our year-end meetings virtually!

We are living in challenging times, but we can rest in the counsel of Philippians 4:6, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”

As we come out of Covid, we are looking forward to a great surge in outreach activities and evangelism throughout the Division territory. We thank God for each of you and what you have done during these momentous times that we live in.

Your NAD leadership team is committed to providing you with resources, information, and inspiration to ensure that our time together is productive, invigorating, and spiritually uplifting.

We are praying that God’s holy presence will be with us to give us wisdom and discernment as we discuss our agenda, and that the blessings of peace and harmony rain down on us throughout our meetings!

Together in mission,

North American Division Mission Statement

The mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America is: “To reach North America and the world with the distinctive, Christ-centered, Seventh-day Adventist message of hope and wholeness.”

This mission statement is a concise expression of the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which is: “To make disciples of all people, communicating the everlasting gospel in the context of the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14:6-12, leading them to accept Jesus as their personal Savior and unite with His remnant Church, discipling them to serve Him as Lord and preparing them for His soon return.”

  • About NAD Year-End Meeting
Purpose of the NAD Year-end Meeting

At the Year-End Meeting of the North American Division Committee, members consider budget requests, make appropriations, adopt policies necessary in the operation of the Division, and transact other business as necessary.

    Overview of Material Members Received

The e-mail you received contains the agenda for the NAD Year-End Meeting and the backup material for each agenda item where applicable. During the business sessions, the agenda items will be presented via large screen projection. Please note any changes to agenda documents will be distributed in print format during the business session.

    Importance of Executive Committee Participation

Committee members should not be afraid to speak. When it is appropriate to speak, go to a microphone and wait to be called on. If you wish to influence a decision, you need to move that your proposal be adopted. Only then will the chairperson proceed with your motion. It is likely nothing will happen if you simply express your conviction and sit down.

Chairman and Secretaries for Business Sessions

The North American Division President serves as the Chairman of the business sessions. The North American Division Secretary and the Associate Secretaries serve as the Secretary on a rotating basis for the business sessions. Recording secretaries are assigned from Secretariat to record the motions of each session. Committee Appointments and Functions The following committees may function during the Year-End Meeting for daily planning: Nominating Committee and Steering Committee.

  • Agenda Support Material

    Explanation of Coding and Format

    1. The agenda lists the items of business that are to be considered at the Business Session of the Year-End Meeting. These items are included in this booklet. Except for a few routine items, almost all have been considered previously at meetings of the North American Division Committee or its standing subcommittees.
    2. Agenda items will be considered first by a standing committee of the Year-End Meeting.
    3. Hyperlinked support material titles can be found in the agendas to easily access the items in this booklet.
    4. Just above the title of the policy item on the first page of the support material for each item you will find what is known as a reference line. This line identifies the source(s) and traces the history of the item and shows its future routing. The glossary on page 35 will help you discover which organizations and committees have considered a particular item and where it will be considered next. The series of acronyms to the left of the word “to” traces the past history of the item. To the right appear the initials of the North American Division Officer who is responsible for presenting the item. The “N” in the acronym represents the North American Division. Occasionally, its future routing is suggested also.
    5. Many of the Policy Agenda items will be voted as a block. However, if there is an item that you would like to discuss then please make the secretary or chair of the business session aware of the item and it will be pulled for individual discussion and vote.
