Pastor José Cortés Jr. treasures and loves his wife, who is his faithful companion in ministry and also a Seventh-day Adventist Pastor. Together, they are blessed with two sons, José Cortes III, Joel Benjamin Cortes. Next to God and family, his greatest joy and passion come from ministry, having served for over  in various capacities, including local church pastor, church planter, youth and young adult ministries and Conference and Union Departmental Director. 

 

Currently, Pastor José serves Associate Director of the North American Division Ministerial Association, overseeing Pastoral Evangelism, Church Planting, Church Revitalization, Global Mission, Church Growth, Mission to the Cities, as well as Volunteer Lay Pastors, NextGen Pastors for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North America. Together with the Ministerial Association team, he serves a dynamic team of around 4,300 pastors, 600 volunteer lay pastors, and 22,000 elders across the United States, Canada, Bermuda, Guam, and Micronesia. José recognizes the profound significance of this task and continually seeks the guidance of the Holy Spirit, asking for a double portion of grace, vision, courage, wisdom, and compassion to reach, retain, and reclaim people for Christ.

 

Pastor José holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University, Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from the same institution, and a B.A. in Theology Columbia Union College Washington Adventist University.
