Colette Newer is the Associate Director for Adventist Community Services at the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists. In this role she provides support and resources to the Community Development, Urban Ministries and Tutoring/Mentoring Programs. She also works closely with the ACS grants initiatives. Prior to this, she was the Outreach Ministries Director in Western Washington, serving the Adventist Community Services and Prison Ministries programs – including the development and startup of a transitional house for men returning from prison, which she continues to serve on the board for.

Colette’s experience has included speaking at churches and conferences, teaching classes and seminars, and consulting one-on-one or with groups. She is inspired by the people she works with and draws out the knowledge and passion of program leaders while building their capacity to serve. She considers it a joy to watch God call and empower His people to establish new and innovative ministries in their communities and a privilege to be a part of that process.

Colette holds a Bachelors in Sociology from Whitman College, Master’s of Administration from Andrews University and Certificate in Fundraising Management from Indiana University.

Colette and her husband, Brad Thurber have one grown son, Jacob. To recharge her batteries, Colette will go kayaking, work in the flower beds at home, or seek out an experience with art.
