Dr. Philip Baptiste: Transforming Leaders, Inspiring Mission


 

Dr. Philip Baptiste serves as the departmental director and Secretary/Treasurer of Adventist-Laymen Services and Industries (ASI) for the North American Division (NAD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In this role, he provides visionary leadership, financial oversight, and strategic direction, coordinating planning efforts and administrative activities to ensure ASI’s dynamic operation. Dr. Baptiste oversees major initiatives that unite members, businesses, and ministries to share Christ’s love through service, mission, and marketplace evangelism.


 

Before his current role, Dr. Baptiste served as a General Conference missionary for four years, working as the Special Assistant to the President for the East-Central Africa Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In this position, he successfully coordinated leadership development, strategic planning, media, communications, Mission to the Cities, and ASI initiatives across eleven countries, making a profound impact in advancing the Adventist mission.


 

Dr. Baptiste’s academic achievements showcase his dedication to ministry, leadership, and lifelong learning. He began his education by earning a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and an Associate of Science in Business Administration from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He then completed an MDiv equivalency and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University. To further enhance his expertise, he earned a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication from American University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Baptiste also holds a Doctor of Ministry degree in Communication and Strategic Leadership from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., where his work focused on communication for leaders. Most recently, he earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Washington Adventist University, followed by a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, also from Washington Adventist University.


 

A Certified Family Life Educator and a 360 Leadership Assessment Coach for the Center for Creative Leadership, Dr. Baptiste specializes in equipping individuals and organizations with transformative tools for building trust, fostering collaboration, and achieving their goals.


 

Dr. Baptiste is also an accomplished author, having written the book Leading Like Jesus: Sharing Hope at Church, in the Home, and in the Marketplace and co-authored the book Leadership in the Last Days: 12 Tools for Adventist Leaders. His thought-provoking works inspire readers to embrace their God-given calling and contribute meaningfully to their communities and beyond.


 

In addition to his leadership expertise, Dr. Baptiste is a compassionate counselor, offering biblically grounded guidance to individuals, couples, families, and children. Known for his solution-focused approach, he provides a safe and supportive environment that fosters healing, strengthens relationships, and encourages emotional and spiritual growth.


 

Dr. Baptiste’s leadership journey spans local and global ministry. He previously served as communication director for the Central States Conference, associate youth director for the Rocky Mountain and Washington Conferences, and lead pastor in Denver and Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is a sought-after speaker and keynote presenter, inspiring audiences worldwide with engaging presentations that empower leaders to fulfill their mission with passion and purpose.


 

Dr. Baptiste is married to Dalyne, an educator and doctoral candidate in Performance Improvement and Leadership. Together, they are the proud parents of two children, PJ (Philip Jr.) and KJ (Kristen Joy). Dr. Baptiste’s mission is to inspire and empower transformational leaders who will advance the Adventist message of hope and wholeness while preparing the world for the soon return of Jesus Christ.
