Philip Baptiste

Departmental Director & Secretary/Treasurer, Adventist-Laymen Services and Industries (ASI), North American Division

 
Dr. Philip Baptiste serves as the Departmental Director of Adventist-Laymen Services and Industries (ASI) for the North American Division (NAD) and is the Secretary/Treasurer of ASI. In this role, he skillfully provides financial oversight, coordinates strategic planning, and directs the administrative activities and overall operation of ASI. His leadership ensures that ASI effectively fulfills its mission of "Sharing Christ in the Marketplace" by mobilizing business professionals, ministries, and laypersons to integrate faith into their daily work and service.
 
Before his tenure at the NAD, Dr. Baptiste was deeply involved in international ministry as a General Conference missionary for four years, serving as the Special Assistant to the President for the East-Central Africa Division (ECD) in Nairobi, Kenya. There, he coordinated strategic planning, leadership development, assessment, media, communications, Mission to the Cities, and ASI in eleven countries, making a profound impact in advancing the Adventist mission.
 
Dr. Baptiste is a seasoned communication and leadership expert known for his ability to develop leaders for excellence and facilitate organizational growth. He is a certified 360 Leadership Assessment Coach for the Center for Creative Leadership, a certified strategic planning and organizational coach, a youth ministry consultant, and a certified family life educator. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor for homiletics and preaching at the Adventist University of Africa. His previous roles include Communication Director for the Central States Conference, Associate Youth Director for the Rocky Mountain Conference, and lead pastor in Denver and Colorado Springs.
 
An accomplished author, Dr. Baptiste has written Leading Like Jesus: Sharing Hope at Church, in the Home, and in the Marketplace and co-authored Leadership in the Last Days: 12 Tools for Adventist Leaders. His works have been used in leadership development, church training, and marketplace evangelism, inspiring individuals to embrace their God-given calling and serve with excellence.
 
Born in Canada and the youngest of three boys, Dr. Baptiste's early education was completed at Andrews University, where he earned an Associate of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion. He earned an MDiv equivalency and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University. Additionally, he holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication from American University in Washington, D.C., and a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree in Communication and Strategic Leadership from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.
 
Most recently, Dr. Baptiste earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, MD, and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Washington Adventist University. His expertise in counseling allows him to integrate faith-based principles with psychological insights, providing biblically grounded guidance to individuals, couples, and families. His approach fosters healing, strengthens relationships, and supports emotional and spiritual well-being.
 
In his spare time, he enjoys beach vacations, playing the piano, traveling, and cooking. A sought-after speaker, Dr. Baptiste has been the keynote presenter at events and conferences around the world, inspiring audiences with engaging presentations that empower leaders to fulfill their mission with passion and purpose.
Dr. Baptiste is married to Dalyne, who works for the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) at the Church’s General Conference Headquarters in Silver Spring, MD, and together they are the proud parents of their two children, PJ (Philip Jr.) and KJ (Kristen Joy). His life’s work is driven by a commitment to empowering leaders, enhancing communication, and elevating the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
