Desiree Bryant
Desiree is the youngest of three girls born and raised in Akron, Ohio, to Ralph and Sarah Wimbish. She is the product of 16 years of Adventist Christian education and a second-generation teacher. After completing her bachelor’s degree at Oakwood College (now Oakwood University), she began her career as a 2nd grade teacher at Ramah Jr. Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. Since that time, Desiree has earned a masters’ degree in teaching reading from Western Michigan University, and served as a classroom teacher for 18 years. From there she went on to serve as principal/superintendent of education; Shepherdess leader; family life and women’s ministry leader; and site-coordinator and project director of a summer literacy day camp program called “Freedom School” during four summers for Central States Conference. Desiree then became associate superintendent for the Northern District schools in Potomac Conference; and most recently she has served as the assistant director, projects coordinator for NAD office of education. On August 3, 2020, she was voted in as associate director, ministerial spouses leader for the NAD Ministerial Association.
Desiree enjoys traveling, music, community outreach, cooking, reading, gardening, home decorating and remodeling, and spending time with family. She has been married for 37 years to Dr. G. Alexander Bryant, president of the North American Division. They have three adult sons, one daughter-in-law, and three beautiful granddaughters.
In addition to the 18 years she spent in the classroom, Desiree served 11+ years in educational administration. For 11 years she served as the ministerial spouses leader for Central States Conference, during which she developed a love for supporting and ministering to ministerial spouses and families. Desiree has supported and assisted the North American Division ministerial spouses initiative for the past 10 years, prior to becoming the current NAD ministerial spouses leader. She is committed to evangelism and service through our ministerial families, churches, and through Adventist Christian education, and firmly believes the words of Isaiah 54:13, a command with a promise: “And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy children” (KJV).
One of her favorite scriptures is Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
