Empowering the Marginalized

From April 27-29, 112 Prison Ministries leaders, volunteers, and guests gathered at the North American Division’s (NAD) headquarters in Columbia, Maryland, for the 2023 NAD Prison Ministry Conference. Themed “Ministry to the Marginalized,” it drew inspiration from Jesus’ call to serve prisoners in Matthew 25:40.

These magazines are geared toward members being able to share them with their family members, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. "Guide" Magazine Redesigns Website and Launches App

Guide, the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s weekly publication for juniors and earliteens, has announced the launch of its new website and a mobile app. “We’ve talked about an app for Guide magazine for years,” says Guide webmaster Kim Peckham. “We had online content for our audience, but we wanted to make it easier for the current generation to access.”

NAD “Engage” Human Resources Conference Inspires HR Professionals to Mission

More than 300 attendees gathered for the North American Division’s (NAD) “Engage” Human Resources Conference, held April 23-25, 2023, in Chantilly, Virginia. The event offered various sessions and activities, including daily devotionals, presentations, panel discussions, policy updates, training workshops, and networking opportunities. Attendees could also earn SHRM Professional Development Credits (PDCs) and access HR resources.

Patmos Chapel Grand Opening: Opening Doors For Community Engagement

For the past three years, Patmos Chapel Adventist Church members in Apopka, Florida, have taken steps of faith and sacrifice on a journey to construct a sanctuary – a tabernacle – a “worship hub.” In March, the congregation crossed the finish line and celebrated with a two-day grand-opening festival.

NAD 2023 “Power to Heal” Health Summit Inspires Attendees to Emulate Jesus’ Healing Ministry in Their Communities

From April 2-8, 2023, more than 150 attendees were inspired to emulate Jesus’ healing ministry at the North American Division’s (NAD) “Power to Heal” Health Summit in Lexington, Kentucky. The summit’s theme came from Luke 5:17 (KJV): “And the power of the Lord was present to heal them.” Angeline Brauer, NAD Health Ministries director and summit organizer, explained: “Where Jesus is [present], His power to heal is [also] present. Christ is waiting to pour out His healing power upon us, His people, and through us to the communities around us.”

“Connected to the Word, Connected to Jesus” at the 2023 Pathfinder Bible Experience

More than 150 teams participated in the 2023 Pathfinder Bible Experience in Tampa Bay, Florida, on April 21-22. This is the second year the event is back in person after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the event online in 2020 and 2021. This will also mark the second year that teams unable to travel could participate remotely in real time with those gathered in Florida.

Young Adult LIFE Tour Dallas-Fort Worth Equips and Empowers the Local Church

Responding to the call of local churches for training and guidance in developing young adult ministry, Young Adult LIFE Tour aims to equip and empower local churches across the North American Division. The tour’s first stop was this spring in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, hosted by the Arlington Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Southern Adventist University Enactus Team Places Third in Top Tier of National Competition

The Enactus chapter at Southern Adventist University won third place at the 2023 Enactus United States National Exposition, ranking in the elite 1 percent of more than 300 teams in the country. This marks the second time Southern’s student team has advanced through the competition to the final round with the top four U.S. schools.
