On Wednesday evening, January 8, 2025, the North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church hosted a special prayer meeting to launch the world church’s 10 Days of Prayer with emphasis on "Seeking God's Spirit" for Pentecost 2025. “We’re delighted to have you here with us tonight. We’re excited about what God is going to do and about His promises, and tonight, we’re going to claim those promises.” NAD president G. Alexander Bryant said in his greetings.

Southern California Conference Responds to the January 2025 Wildfires

A series of fires erupted in southern California on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, amid extremely dry and windy weather conditions. As of January 9 the death toll is seven; thousands of homes have been destroyed. The largest blaze, the Pacific Palisades Fire, is now considered the most destructive in Los Angeles City history. This release contains information about what the Southern California Conference is doing to respond immediately to the crisis caused by the fires.

Walla Walla University Theology Students Intern Across North Pacific Union Conference

The North Pacific Union summer ministerial internship is a wonderful opportunity for Walla Walla University (WWU) theology and religious studies majors interested in pastoral ministry. Through this 10-week program, students earn full-time practical experience under the mentorship of skilled North Pacific Union Conference (NPUC) pastors, strengthening their understanding of what pastoral careers look like.

Andrews University Receives Major Grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.

Andrews University has received a grant of $6,326,735 from Lilly Endowment Inc. through its Ministry in Rural Areas and Small Towns Initiative. The aim of the initiative is to provide resources to help churches in rural areas and small towns enhance the vitality of their ministries and strengthen the leadership of the pastors and lay leaders who guide them.

Former NAD Treasurer Announces Retirement from Role of General Conference Treasurer

On April 12, 2021, Juan R. Prestol-Puesán, treasurer of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, announced his retirement. This announcement came one day before the 2021 GC Spring Meeting officially began on April 13. He will continue in his current role until July 31. The new treasurer, Paul H. Douglas, elected on April 14, will commence duties on August 1.

Adventist Church Leaders Vote to Hold a Special One-Day GC Session in January 2022

On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, members of the General Conference Executive Committee (GC EXCOM) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church voted to hold a special General Conference (GC) Session on January 18, 2022. The special one-day, one-item GC Session at the world church headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, United States, is being called for the sole purpose of amending the GC Constitution to allow delegates to participate by digital means in a future GC Session in the event that unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances arise.

Adventist Retirement Welcomes New Assistant Treasurer, New Associate Administrator/CFO

Adventist Retirement is pleased to welcome two new employees, Jennifer Chung, as assistant treasurer, and Andrew Choi, as associate administrator/CFO. Chung joins the department to fill the role of outgoing assistant treasurer Lisa Shannon, who has accepted a position with the Adventist Healthcare Retirement Plan. on May 1, Andrew Choi will join Adventist Retirement as associate administrator/chief financial officer (CFO). He fills the vacancy created when Romero became administrator in May 2020.

During Virtual Celebration for Women’s History Month, South Central Conference Former Bible Instructors Honored

On March 27, Sandra Hawkins, executive director of “Making of a Lady” in Montgomery, Ala., and a former Bible instructor, hosted a virtual celebration of Bible instructors to honor women who currently or previously served in that role within South Central Conference. Special recognition was given to Mildred P. Johnson for her 42 years of service.
