Southern California Conference Responds to the January 2025 Wildfires
A series of fires erupted in southern California on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, amid extremely dry and windy weather conditions. As of January 9 the death toll is seven; thousands of homes have been destroyed. The largest blaze, the Pacific Palisades Fire, is now considered the most destructive in Los Angeles City history. This release contains information about what the Southern California Conference is doing to respond immediately to the crisis caused by the fires.
Walla Walla University Theology Students Intern Across North Pacific Union Conference
The North Pacific Union summer ministerial internship is a wonderful opportunity for Walla Walla University (WWU) theology and religious studies majors interested in pastoral ministry. Andrews University Receives Major Grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.
Andrews University has received a grant of $6,326,735 from Lilly Endowment Inc. through its Ministry in Rural Areas and Small Towns Initiative. Students from colleges around the North American Division will gather at the newly completed Loma Linda University Church complex in California for three days of film screenings, educational opportunities, and professional connections.
Jorge Ramirez Named North American Division Undersecretary
On March 10, 2022, the North American Division committee elected Jorge Ramirez for the position of division undersecretary. Ramirez replaces Elden Ramirez, who took a call to serve as executive secretary of the Lake Union this past fall.
Connecting the Pastoral “Family”
Pastors of the NAD are looking forward to the CALLED Pastors’ Family Convention to be held in Lexington, Kentucky, on June 19-22. This convention offers some of the best continuing education opportunities, with six arena sessions and 120 seminars. Specific tracks will be offered for Spanish-speaking pastors, volunteer lay pastors, chaplains, ministry tech lab, and spouses.
2022 Growing Together Cohort Launches Virtually
The 2022 Growing Together Cohort launched with nearly 150 leaders from 40 different churches across the North American Division (NAD) attending the virtual summit. Growing Together is about intentionally reaching out to youth and young adults with acceptance, grace, and the love of Jesus. It’s about changing the culture in our Adventist churches.
